Start THE JOURNEY TO YOUR BETTER LIFE TODAY

How is your recovery?

Nearly 1 of every 10 Americans is living in addiction recovery. For too many, “recovery” feels like a game of mere survival.

It doesn’t have to be that way!

With the right training and support, a person in recovery can learn to leverage their innate strengths and the lessons of their past and begin THRIVING in every area of their life.

If you have successfully fought addiction and found your way to recovery, you have demonstrated a tremendous amount of courage, willpower, and potential.

Don’t let obstacles like social stigma, limited opportunities, shattered self-esteem, and doubt, shame, or remorse about your past prevent you from reaching your true potential.

You, too, can experience the happiness, joy, and fulfillment that you desire deep down.

Too many passionate, good-hearted, and talented people find themselves confused, scared, unfulfilled, and unsure about what tomorrow might bring. That doesn’t have to be your fate.

Thriving in YOUR Recovery can be the tool that helps you get from where you are to where you want to be in your recovery.

“I got magnificent results. If you want to reach your highest peak, if you want to dig deeply and find out what your true potential is, Garret Biss is the one for you. He has the tools and the passion to see it through and will work with you every step of the way.”

— Gina B.

What makes Thriving in YOUR Recovery Unique?

Thriving in YOUR Recovery (TIYR) is not a one-size-fits-all approach to recovery. Each person that has experienced substance use disorder or addiction in their lifetime has traveled a unique pathway to their addiction – a unique journey of life experiences, relationships, genetic makeup, personal beliefs, and previous traumas. An effective recovery program doesn’t assume that all people can find sobriety or thrive in their recovery by following one specific pathway, philosophy, or approach. TIYR is about YOU! It empowers you to create a unique program that is the best fit for YOUR recovery.

Founded on the Science of Human Flourishing. TIYR’s framework is inspired by Positive Psychology’s PERMA model and the science of human flourishing — the study of strengths and optimal human functioning.  This framework promotes a holistic approach to living in recovery by addressing multiple pathways to well-being: Positivity, Engagement, Meaning & Purpose, and Achievement. The exercises and interventions offered through TIYR provide evidence-based practices and proven positive psychology interventions that will help you create immediate and lasting change.

“My first introduction to Garret's work completely changed the way I was managing my life professionally and personally. Garret's message is a refreshing perspective on how the choices we make in our lives affect our mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing and is delivered with energy and inspiration.”

— Angelina D.

How do you know if this program is for you?

This course was designed for people who…

  1. Have successfully battled against an addiction of any kind but still want more from life than they presently have

  2. Those who feel like lingering effects of addiction – legal, social, poor self-esteem, consequences – are holding them back from experiencing more in life

  3. People who still misuse a substance or behavior to fill a void and aren’t “addicted”, but feel they would have more success, joy, self-esteem, or fulfillment, if they could stop indulging so much in their distraction

“If you are looking for something unique, really powerful yet heart-centered and connected that will really bring the results….propel and inspire action, I really recommend working with Garret. You won’t be disappointed.”

— Michael K.

“Garret Biss offers us both a 're-visioning' of ancient wisdom and a disarmingly authentic and unique perspective on how to navigate our chaotic world.”

— Connie K.

  • Thriving in Recovery will empower you to break free from the chains of addiction that hold you back from the life you want

About The Creator of Thriving in YOUR Recovery

My story may sound familiar…

My name is Garret Biss. I am one of the 24 million Americans living in recovery.

My life used to be defined anxiety, debilitating panic attacks, constant frustration and confusion, thoughts of suicide, and a real fear that the rest of my life was going to be an experience of suffering until the very end.

I’ve known the pain and suffering that addictive substances and behaviors can bring to one’s life.

I’ve spent years of my life abusing alcohol or misusing other substances and behaviors in order to escape, avoid or numb my internal discomfort and pain.

I’ve lived through some of the many consequences one can face when a person turns to addictive substances and behaviors in an attempt to cope with the pain of today and survive for tomorrow.

Not only has addiction touched my life personally, but I have also seen substance use disorder and addiction destroy and take the lives of close friends and family members.

Fortunately for me, something changed inside of me and my life didn’t continue down that spiral forever. A spark of hope inspired me to fight my way out of the darkness and find a better way.

I consider myself very lucky. Not all who have struggled with substance misuse or addiction are fortunate enough to find the help and resources I have.

Because I know the pain and I see the suffering all around me, I’ve made it a personal mission to share what I have learned and what has made the difference in my life.

During the past decade, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and be mentored by some of the brightest human potential trainers and addiction experts in the world. I’ve chosen to devote my time to studying positive psychology and to applying this science of human potential to my own life so that I could guide others along a similar path.

What I have learned and begun sharing with others has made such an impact, I’ve decided to devote my professional time and energy to serving people in this specific way.

What I know about substance use disorder and addiction:

The chains of substance misuse and addiction hold so many back from living into their potential and experiencing the joy, the fulfillment, and the sense of purpose they yearn for.

Many people, especially those in recovery, live with a sense that there should be more to life — more happiness, more joy, more meaning, more purpose.

Without help or direction, it can be impossible to find these things missing from life.

I spent the past few years developing the Thriving in YOUR Recovery program to provide that help and direction so that others might find their way out of that dark place and into their true potential.

I know there are more people suffering than I could ever reach personally, but I want to help those I can. If you are looking for a better way to experience recovery, I want to help you succeed by working with you in this Thriving in YOUR Recovery program.

“Garret is the epitome of selflessness and compassion.”

— Che' B.

“Garret's ability to teach is another part of his DNA. He takes great pride in making everyone around him better. His depth and breadth of reading and basic life skills provide a solid foundation and enables thoughtful ideas to help either solve someone’s problem or just help them improve.”

— Charles M.

FAQs & FUN FACTS

What do other addiction professionals have to say about the course?

A detailed review of the curriculum by a professional in the addiction recovery field:

As I’ve gone through this, I feel like this is a 10 out of 10. It is easily understood and direct, while still being powerful. The focus on self-acceptance and self-love really spoke to me. As someone with a history of trauma and abuse, the focus on defects and faults in some recovery circles has amplified negative voices of my past, making those recovery programs less supportive and helpful to me. Since trauma is relatively common in people in addiction, a program like this that instead builds up the person and their strengths makes more sense to me.

The way that the steps build on each other, helping create a pathway for the student to come to see their future, as well as find meaning in the steps along the way, is very beneficial for those having a hard time seeing outside the next 24 hours.

This program is flexible for those who have different ways of learning, from visual, audio, and tangible, as well as makes it easy to translate to a conversation between a support person (such as a counselor, PSS, or sponsor) and the client. It is easy to pause and complete the workbook sections as needed, letting each person dictate their speed and learning, as well as handle emotions that may come up while working through it.

Overall, I think this is a very useful tool, able to be used alongside other support systems or as a pathway to a better recovery by itself. Thank you so much for the opportunity to view this and assist in the process of making this program a reality!

Do I get access to all the training modules right away?

Yes.  Once you enroll in the Thriving in YOUR Recovery course, you will have instant access to all the training lessons, worksheets, and resources. You can start at the beginning (recommended) or jump to a lesson to work on a specific area of your life first.

We will add additional training modules and Extra Credit lessons and we improve and expand the course material. You’ll have access to everything else as soon as we load it to your course website…. AND… you get access to all the TIYR improvements for NO ADDITIONAL COST. 🙂

Will the Q&A calls be recorded in case I miss them?

Yes. Each Q&A call will be recorded so if you miss them, you can go back and catch up on what you missed. Also, if you have questions and know you cannot make it to the call, you can send in your questions beforehand and I will answer them on the call.

What if I have questions or need support in between the calls?

Great question! That’s what the Facebook group is all about. Not only can you reach out and tap into the wisdom and support of the group, but this is also a great way to connect with me. If you get stuck in the course, need some help with one of the exercises, or don’t feel you are getting what you need from a module, the Facebook group is a great way to share that with me so I can get you the help you need.

What is the Facebook group for?

The Thriving in Your Recovery Facebook group is only open to students of the program (online only and the group coaching members). This group is about community and connection. It’s a place where we can share our wins, ask for ideas and support, and cheer each other on as we progress in our journey. I will use the group to share exclusive content and host occasional Facebook Lives so I can help keep people engaged, offer some additional support, and help everyone get to where they want to be in recovery.

I am very interested but have a few questions first...

Awesome! Let’s connect so I can get your questions answered. Send me a message at garret (at) thrivinginyourrecovery.com.

What if I NEED this program but cannot afford it?

Everyone understands the financial consequences that come with substance use disorder and addiction. Sometimes, our financial resources can be very limited.

We do accept all major credit cards and offer a payment plan to make it a little easier for Thriving in YOUR Recovery to fit within your budget. If your budget is a little tight right now I’d invite you to look at how much money you spend to avoid, escape, or numb the stresses of your life. Even those of us in recovery can spend a lot of money on external pleasures or experiences in order to deal with the void inside. Can you reduce your spending on travel, dining out, buying new gadgets, or updating your wardrobe? Once you are thriving in recovery and have begun to fill the void with greater positivity, engagement, meaning, and achievement, that need to constantly indulge and escape will begin to fade. I have found that point right there to be worth all the sacrifices made during my journey.

If you just have too little or no income at all, think of some people who may be willing to invest in your recovery? Who do you turn to when you really need some help? If you were in an accident or if you were sent to rehab but had no money, who would you call? See if they’d be willing to invest in your future BEFORE things get that bad.

Some people have had success with crowdfunding to raise tuition for a program like this. Sites like GoFundMe are a great place to get a little bit of support from a lot of people who would like you to succeed.

Remember, we have a 30-Day 100% Money Back Guarantee. So if it’s not right for you, we’ll happily return your investment.

Who is this program for? Who is it not for?

This program is for people who are living in recovery but struggling with some lingering source of pain or suffering. I know for me, I was in recovery for years before that dark void inside of me began to disappear.

Being in recovery doesn’t mean all the challenges and frustrations of your life immediately disappear. Far from it! This program will help you focus on your strengths and develop your character in all vital areas of your life so that you can find greater happiness, meaning, fulfillment, and success.

Whether you’ve been in recovery for 20 years or you just relapsed yesterday, this program will help improve your life. The only thing you need to get tremendous benefit from this program is a desire to change, and an open mind, and a willingness to put forth the effort.

If that sounds like you, this course is for you.

It might not be for you if…

This course is designed to get people from where they are to where they want to be in their recovery. If you are exactly where you want to be in every area of your life – financially, physically, emotionally, spiritually, interpersonally — then this course probably isn’t for you.

If you are in tremendous pain right now but don’t want to make any effort to change your situation or your life, this course won’t help.

This purpose of this course is to be transformational, not just entertaining or educational. If you only intend to watch the videos but not apply any of the information in your life, it probably won’t be worth your investment. Not saying you won’t find it entertaining, I do crack a few jokes throughout the training, but if you just want a laugh, there are plenty of cat videos on YouTube. In fact, here you go… https://youtube.com/

How long can I access the online program?

Lifetime access.  With a good exercise routine and healthy diet, that could be many years.

Of course, I cannot predict what technology will look like, 10, 20, or 50 years from now. We may all be living augmented reality lives on some space ship by then. But for as long as technology will allow this kind of training platform to exist online, I plan to keep the course live and you will have access to it!  Sound good?

Can an online course be effective?

Not only, YES, but there are many reasons online recovery training can be MORE effective than traditional approaches.

With the advances in technology and social trends that have moved so much of our lives online, the ability to conduct training and foster connection virtually continues to improve.

You can get the same information and be guided through the same exercises online that you can in person. With online communities like Facebook Groups and programs like Zoom, people from all over the world into the same virtual room for a meeting. The fact that Thriving in YOUR Recovery is completely online is not something that diminishes the value or transformation you will get from the program.

Any value lost because of the virtual nature of the program and the fact that you aren’t in the same physical room as someone else is minor compared to the tremendous benefits and flexibility offered in the virtual classroom.

Of all those struggling with substance use disorder or addiction (actively and those in recovery), only about 10 percent get the level of care and treatment they need to live a fulfilling life. Many of the obstacles that keep people from the treatment they need are immediately overcome by the virtual nature of this program.

  1. It’s cost-effective. The investment for this program is a fraction of what it costs to attend a residential treatment program. Even free 12-step programs can get expensive to participate in longterm once you consider the expense of lost work hours, transportation, babysitters, etc.
  2. It’s always available. This lessons in this program are always accessible so you can work through it at any time.
  3. It’s virtual. This allows you to access the program at your convenience from wherever you have privacy and feel secure. Many people face the obstacles of embarrassment or shame when they consider going to a therapist, treatment center, or meeting. With an online program, that’s not an issue.
  4. Flexible. This program meets you where you are and will help you move forward at your own pace. Whether that’s a few hours a day or a few hours a month.

Is this an alternative to a 12-step program?

Thriving in YOUR Recovery is designed to provide the resources and support necessary to help anyone in their recovery journey.

Many people have found 12-step groups to be a vital part of their recovery. For those involved in a 12-step program, Thriving in YOUR Recovery will be a great complement to bolster your recovery journey and help take you further down your path at a faster pace.

Others have found recovery by following some of the dozens of alternatives to traditional 12-step approaches.

Whether working a 12-step program (like AA, NA, CA, CR, Y12SR, etc.) or not, Thriving in YOUR Recovery will be a valuable tool and provide many resources to your recovery.

Will this help me if I am going through a 12-step program?

Yes. There are many great benefits of following a 12-step program but a lot of people still need more help. That’s normal.

Thriving in YOUR Recovery can be a perfect complement to your 12-step program. It will provide some different insights that you get from working your program and will share with you some additional resources that you wouldn’t have found otherwise.

Do you need this program if you are already involved in a 12-step program?

That’s a personal question that only you can answer. Are you getting everything you need from your 12-step program to deal with challenged and struggles you face? Are you getting everything you need to live into your full potential and enjoy the best possible life BEYOND the cravings, guilt, and shame?

Thriving in YOUR Recovery operates on a positive psychology model that focuses on strengths to improve wellness. Traditional approaches focus on what is wrong with people and try to help them become “less bad.” Positive Psychology and Thriving in YOUR Recovery helps you identify what’s good with you so you can leverage that to grow and thrive.

Because they operate from different positions, the two can work well together.
